    Divorcing YOur Mortgage

    Understand the implications and challenges of how a Divorce Settlement Agreement involves Real Estate, Spousal Support and Child Support and how they are affected by the financial challenges and requirements as related to Mortgage Financing and Tax Law.  We will cover the many elements and specific requirements needed to ensure that the items in a Divorce Settlement Agreement pertaining to real Estate Distribution and Financing are truly achievable.  

    Whether mediating a collaborative divorce settlement; restructuring a real estate portfolio,
    there are real concerns and financing strategies involving your clients current real estate, ability to buy one spouse out or structuring maintenance in order for the receiving spouse to qualify for a new mortgage.  The key to making sure your clients are well positioned for their new lives
    after divorce comes from knowing how to set them up for success.  This session takes a look at various financing strategies and hurdles facing Capital Gains Taxes from sale of Real Estate; special rules related to divorce; structuring support for the right time periods;
    divorce and negative equity.

    Jody is the founding member of the Divorce Lending Association.  She has trained with the Harvard Negotiation Institute.  Authored the Certified Divorce Lending Professional (CDLP) and Certified Divorce Real Estate Professional (CDREP) industry an the Real Estate Mediation Specialist (REM-S) certifications.

    Jody has coached and trained over 3,000 mortgage and real estate professionals on how to build thier divorce practice working with divorcing clients and divorce attorneys and other divorce professionals.  

    Wth over 30 years of experience in finance and mortgage banking, Jody implements her experience and knowledge of current real estate trends and conditions to help mentor and train other mortgage professionals on how to succeed in the divorce lending market.  As an industry educator, she shares her knowledge and expertise with mortgage professionals, attorneys, financial planners, CPAs, real estate professionals and others by developing and providing targeted presentations and continuing education classes relevant to their success in their chosen fields.
