    Smarter Social Security
    A recent AARP survey determined that only half of the respondents who were
    either married or who had ever been married were aware that spousal benefits were available.
    Daniel G. Mazzola, CFA, CPA, CFP offers a broad overview of the Social Security program
    as it relates to retirees and their beneficiaries. Learn about spousal benefits and how
    married couples can optimize their collective payouts using two simple strategies.

    is an investment advisory respresentative with American Portfolios Advisors, Inc. Mr. Mazzola is a Chartered
    Financial Analyst, Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Financial Planner. He has written for the NYS
    Society of Certified Public Accountants' CPA Journal, Trusted Professional and Tax Stringer publications, and
    has been appointed by the NYS Department of Educaiton to teach classes on social security retirement benefits
    to CPA's for continuing education credits.

    Journey Many Financial Planners' Clients Will

    Learn how senior living advisors assist families in making the optimum living
    decision for their elderly loved one. Michael McClernon will discuss the process
    followed by the advisor, from the discovery and senior assessment process to the best
    setting determination, facility tours, services, costs and payment terms. He will also present an
    overview of the different living options (assisted living, nursing home, memory care)
    and their services, as well as what the financial planner and estate planning attorneys'
    role is in sharing the senior's financial situation and recommendations on
    how to pay for their care.
      Michael McClernon 
    has a 40 year background in sales, marketing and senior management.
    He began his career in medical sales and
    managment and later became the CEO of SmartSource
    Computer and AV Rentals, which had revenues of $71
    million and 21 offices nationwide. In
    2019, Mike bought an Assisted Living Locators of Long Island franchise.
    His new business
    helps seniors and their families navigate the work necessary to place seniors in Assisted
    Living, Alzheimer
    Care, or Senior Independent Living communities on Long Island. As an eldercare advisor,
    Mike works
    with his clients to identify the best senior living options available based on family values and
    financial means.
